The nodes are situated in the buildings of both Wrocław universities and cooperating institutions. The core of the network consists of operator-class devices from such manufacturers as Alcatel-Lucent and Juniper Networks. These are devices with 10G-100G interfaces and with MPLS support. In 2006, the network in Legnica was connected to WASK. In 2007, a WASK node was installed in Polkowice, and in 2008 in Lubin.
Our network has 3 main points of connection with the Pionier network, ensuring high redundancy and continuous service.
WASK provides approximately 250 independent, dedicated network services for approximately 100 customers. Currently, our network has connection points with Orange, Netia, Exatel, TK TELEKOM and Korbank networks, and also has connections at the premises of operators such as EXATEL, TK TELEKOM (Netia) and Orange.
WCSS supervises the operation of the network using the OpenNMS system, launched in 2009, as well as dedicated systems provided by manufacturers of selected infrastructure elements.
Wrocław Academic Computer Network
The WASK network connects all Wrocław universities, research institutes, schools, public administration offices and hospitals, ensuring access to the Polish PIONIER network and to the European GÉANT2 network, as well as to the Internet.
